Experientials

I am working with the human body and how it can interlock with the natural landscape.

We experience with our senses.

touch snakes that you catch as they swim in the sea.

taste apples off abandoned orchard trees.

see bugs you trap at night with light and jars.

hear the sound you make with a kelp horn.

smell the garden of fragrant roses.

I like the "wah-hoo" element of unpredictability of experientialness of being outside and seeing what happens and what one happens upon and responding to it. The heat, wind, rain, the body and the natural landscape coalescing to create a happening.

Recorded passages though landscape. I walk and stop briefly to draw documenting trail hikes. I am a passenger being driven through landscape and sketch the journey. Information retention and loss of image is recorded on the go. I might record the path, sky and one tree while leaving out the thousands of other details. What is emotionally or cognitively grasped will be gestured at and the rest of the world ignored. This is a different approach than that of photo or video documentation that records all visuals.
