  • Dark Water Dark Water Dark water is a series of paintings on canvas. The pallet is of cool blues contrasted with warm flesh tones. Vulnerable semi-naked figures are contorted in positions as if falling or underwater. I built two paradigms, the man and the woman thought space. The woman's thought space is a floating and falling space that could be water or air. In this environment she is letting go and falling but sparking. I am working with this image because I won't have anymore children and I am saddened by this but it does leave open new possibilities for my life energy. In a position of legs splayed open. It shows a birthing passage that will not function again and it is a vulnerable position of helplessness. The feet spark with new inspiration. The dress references jellyfish, the brainless wonder. It is a naked portrait of self, sexual but private. The man's thought space is a dark underwater space. Man battles with a large malevolent single celled creature. In his spare time my partner Rick reads history books about the wars and societies atrocities. As his partner I fear that studying these subjects for years sinks him down into a dark hopeless place were one stares at evil and looses track of the human good. This is a space where man is vulnerable but fights back against evil.
